ITINERARY

The excursion begins in El Chaltén at 8:00 am, where our vehicle will pick you up at your hotel to go to the head of the trail located 16 km away, at Reserva Provincial Lago del Desierto, a private nature reserve road to the Lago del Desierto.

You will visit the native forest of Lenga, on a path away from the classics that depart from El Chaltén to the National Park. To the south, the imposing north face of Cerro Chaltén will watch your steps until you reach the Laguna del Diablo, after an hour and a half of trekking.

Once in the Lagoon, our guides will deliver the necessary equipment for the Ferrata route. Then, continue along the path bordering the lagoon through a stony terrain, more irregular, until you reach the Via Ferrata.

The Ferratas routes are sectors of rock with little difficulty that have previously been prepared with artificial steps and steel cables. Here we will explain how to use the harness to move through the road autonomously, safely and accompanied at all times by the guides.

The journey through the Ferrata route is an excursion in itself, since as you progress in the rock and gain height, the mountain landscape becomes more and more imposing.

At the end of the trek, you will reach the viewpoint of the Cagliero Sur Glacier that descends between the Neumayer, Cagliero and Loma del Diablo hills.

In a few minutes you will arrive at the front of the glacier, and it is time to put on the crampons to start the trekking on it.

Then, we begin the return by the same route Ferrata, retracing the path through the valley of the Diablo River, arriving at the head of the trail at the entrance of the Reserva Provincial Lago del Desierto around 18:00 hs. The vehicle will be waiting to return to El Chaltén and culminate this unforgettable experience.
